Taking Action

Sometimes, too much of a good thing ultimately becomes a bad thing. Take for instance the explosion of information at our fingertips in the digital age. Limitless instructions and opinions about virtually any topic are available through a quick search. While this is very convenient and helpful, it can also present some unique challenges.

I’m a huge believer that we should learn from others. We should listen to those who have expertise in a given subject area. But, we shouldn’t allow information to make us fearful or hold us back from taking action. When this happens, information becomes problematic.

If you read 10 posts on any given subject you could come away 10 differing views. It can get confusing to wade through the sea of ideas. This leads to inactivity. It promotes paralysis by analysis.

Instead, why not take action? Start moving. Begin implementing. Sure, gather the information needed, within reason. Be disciplined enough to move ahead even if everything isn’t crystal clear. Failures and missteps are inevitable. But the best lessons are learned from experience. Then, take those lessons and share them with others. You won’t have anything to share if you don’t start.
